My research proposal topic will be on the community, I will be focusing on suicide. I've never had to deal with someone actually committing suicide, however, a family member has come close twice. On one account I have been affected with someone killing themselves because of my friends. Even though this person wasn't my friend I often wonder what or if there is anything I could've done to help. When I hear about suicide it makes me really upset because I know how awful people can be and that being the reason someone kills them-self is daunting. I just wish people would see how much value they hold. I plan to gather information on ways to help people in distress and depression, even when those two things aren't clear to others. I want to know if there can be a psychological disorder convincing the unfortunate ones that suicide is the way to go. I just want to find out why this has to be the way when there are so many other roads to take. I don't' have any sources as of right now, but I will be using reliable websites and our counselors here at Parkview.
Maybe you could try interviewing your family member......?
ReplyDeleteThis is a sensitive topic but I'm glad you chose to write about it! It could help many people that are on the verge of committing suicide and I hope they can read your paper!
ReplyDeleteIt might be hard to get a family member to talk to you about it, but with all my suicidal patients I have come in contact with are usually pretty open about it.
ReplyDeleteThis is a very sensitive topic but I'm glad you can chose it! Good luck homie!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure that you can get some experienced people to interview (counselors.) Best of luck on this topic.
ReplyDeleteI think a lot of people avoid this topic because it's touchy with some people. I'm really glad you're researching it though, because it's something that needs to be talked about. It can be hard to understand how someone couldn't see how much they were loved and valued. I'm interested to see what resources are available to those who might be contemplating taking their life.
ReplyDeleteIt's good that you chose a topic that isn't widely discussed. I like that you'll be looking into the psychological aspect of it.
ReplyDeleteThis is a very sensitive topic, yet I believe that we can't forget about it. We just need to find a way to move on.
ReplyDeleteIt is a great topic, bringing awareness to a topic like this, is the best way to help prevent it from happening.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you've thought this out quite a bit. You are, however, going to run into one problem, doctor patient confidentiality. I don't think the councilors will be able to give you many examples.
ReplyDeleteNoah brings up a good point, but I don't think that will stop you from getting information on this topic as they can still answer general questions.
ReplyDeleteI have a very personal experience with this topic. My cousin Cody committed suicide after he had a bad trip on some drugs. I have witnessed first hand what losing someone to this. If you needed an inside knowledge on this you can interview me. I would not mind to answer any questions you have.
ReplyDeleteThis is a really good topic, I'm sure there are help websites out there and you could find someone to help you understand what it's like to be in that situation.
ReplyDeleteI hate that this has become so relevant in today's society. I like that you're bringing attention to it.
ReplyDeleteThis will be a difficult yet helpful topic for others. It may be hard for certain people to talk about.
ReplyDeleteI love your topic, and people really don't even realize how serious suicide truly is.
ReplyDeleteI love your topic choice and I hope you can help others through what you find.
ReplyDeleteEspecially this year, this topic for Parkview has been discussed constantly. I am glad you are going to do further research because many people may not understand that any thing can affect a person's outlook on life. Be nice to people! :)
ReplyDeleteOur community is starting to get over populated and I would be curious to see what information you discover. There used to not as much people in Springfield and everyone new of each other. Now other race are coming in.
ReplyDeleteI love that you have chosen this controversial topic. There is a great origination called Mercy Ministries that sets up safe houses and works with women dealing with all sorts of things. Such as suicide but also eating disorders, drug addiction, and sexual assault victims. They take these women in and teach the how to live life again. I would suggest using them as a potential source!
ReplyDeleteI love your topic, stick with it. It is always cool to have a topic that could maybe even eventually help someone that is struggling with that problem.
ReplyDeleteyour topic seems so sad, but I think its cool that you are researching this topic, and I am excited to see the things that you discover!
